Product Description

Description

Each 200 ml povidone-iodine solution contains 20 g povidone-iodine, equivalent to 2 g available iodine.

Pharmacology

Povidone-lodine is an iodophor in which iodine is bound to the carrier molecule, povidone. The

complex, povidone-iodine, slowly liberates inorganic iodine when in contact with the skin and

mucous membranes. Only a small amount of iodine is released at any one time, giving

Povidone-lodine a lower irritant potential, and longer duration of microbicidal action than

conventional lodine solutions.

For preoperative and postoperative scrubbing of skin by hospital operating personnel; for

preoperative use on patients as an antiseptic cleanser or for general use as an antiseptic skin
